In collaboration with Confucius Institute at the University of Cyprus (CI at UCY), we are excited to bring you an experience-sharing panel featuring university students and working professionals who leverage their Mandarin Chinese language skills to build global careers!
Did you ever ask yourself:

- How difficult is to get fluent in Mandarin Chinese and how long does it take?
- How can speaking Chinese help you in your future career?
- Are there any scholarship opportunities to study Chinese in Cyprus?
Then you are at the right place!
Other than hearing the stories of our speakers, you will also get the chance to win a partial scholarship to begin your Chinese language journey!
20% Scholarship: 5 event participants will be selected to receive a 20% discount for one semester of Mandarin Chinese language training offered at the premises of Confucius Institute at UCY in Nicosia. The scholarship is open to the public and individuals who do not already benefit from discounted tuition. The students who receive the scholarship can attend:
- Spring or Fall Semester group classes in 2022-2023
- Chinese for HSK Level 1 to HSK Level 5

The Confucius Institute at the University of Cyprus (CI at UCY) is a non-profit organization and a joint venture between the Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban), the University of Cyprus and the Beijing Institute of Education. CI at UCY plays a key role in education and culture exchanges between China and Cyprus by offering a large spectrum of programmes, events and other activities on Chinese language, culture, arts, education and business.

Alexandros TsoliasJunior LawyerAlexandros is a Law and International Relations graduate from Peking University in Beijing, China. He is based China since 2018 and has worked in both governmental and private-sector posts in the country. He is conversational in Chinese and fluent in Greek, English and German. In his free time, he likes to explore and travel throughout China, deepening his understanding of the country’s history and culture.

Christian SchusterFounder & CEO at Tenba GroupChristian, a German entrepreneur and Shaolin lay monk, trained in Shaolin Temple, Hebei, and has lived in Cyprus since 2018. He is the founder of Tenba Group, a Cyprus-based China Digital Marketing Agency that specializes in Chinese Search Engine Marketing (SEM) solutions. Christian speaks English, German and Chinese fluently, and is currently learning Greek and Thai.

Costas GeorgiouMBA Scholar, Cofounder at BeHive, Legal CounselCostas read Law at The University of Manchester and has been working as a Legal Counsel in Beijing for 2,5 years. He co-founded BeHive, an organization that helps university students and young professionals develop transferable career skills through experiential workshops. He is currently enrolled in the UCL Peking University MBA and has been awarded multiple scholarships for his community contribution. In his spare time Costas exercises his positive influence by sharing weekly YouTube videos about lessons learned in China.

Nefeli GeorgiouInteractive Media Arts & Business at NYU ShanghaiNefeli Georgiou is a second year student at NYU Shanghai, studying Interactive Media Arts and Business. She has been living in Shanghai for 11 months and hopes to reach Chinese fluency before graduating. She is from Nicosia, Cyprus, and started learning Chinese during March 2020.

Petros DjakourisCo-Founder & Curator at BeHivePetros has worked in talent development, community building and Chinese digital marketing for the past five years. His training and marketing experience includes working with organizations such as LinkedIn, Peking University, and Confucius Institute at the University of Cyprus. He is co-founder at BeHive, an organization that bridges China with the rest of the world through employability training, job fairs and resource sharing, for international talent that wants to work or start a business in China. Petros is originally from Cyprus, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Nottingham University, and speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese.

Sotiria VasiliouBusiness and Public Administration at the University of CyprusSotiria Vasiliou is an undergraduate student of Business and Public Administration at the University of Cyprus. Sotiria has been learning Chinese for the last 4.5 years and is currently working as an Operations Assistant at Confucius Institute at UCY. Learning about the Chinese culture and history through the Chinese language is her passion.

Sotirios StasinopoulosFounder-CEO at Popular Robotics, CTO at Pegasus AI TechnologiesSotirios Stasinopoulos received his Diploma in Electrical and Computers Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece and his Ph.D. in Automation and Robotics by the Department of Automation of Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. He has worked as a robotics perception engineer and project manager in UBTech Robotics, mainly leading humanoid AI, CV and SLAM projects. He is the co-founder/CEO of MENATHLON S.A. in Athens, Greece since 2014, and in 2018 he founded Popular Robotics in Beijing, a robotics company aiming to make robotics and AI accessible to everyone through online education and professional networking. In 2021, he co-founded Pegasus AI Technologies, a company primarily dedicated to creating household service robots. Sotirios is also a guest lecturer at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, China, about Innovation and Robotics Design.
